WALK AND CONQUER THE SUMMIT OF A TEPUY
Trek the Kuravaina Tepuy and connect step by step with the natural grandeur of Canaima. Climb trails through forests and savannas to reach its summit, which offers unparalleled views of the Kuraupa Valley. An active and challenging experience, ideal for trekking enthusiasts looking to experience breathtaking landscapes.
We depart from Wakü Lodge, boarding our vehicles and heading to Ucaima Port, where the curiaras (indigenous motorized canoes) await us. We sail along the Carrao River, surrounded by savannas and gallery forests. Weather permitting, we’ll enjoy views of tepuis such as Nonoi, Kurún, Kusary, Kuravaina, Topochi, and the imposing Auyantepuy.
We then enter the Moroko canal, a narrow and serene branch of the river, ideal for birdwatching, the tree of life, and the "Kuai" moriche palm. After about 10 minutes of sailing, we disembark and begin a 30-minute hike to Pozo Azul (Blue Lagoon), where we pause for a refreshing swim.
We then continue ascending for 50 minutes until we reach the summit of the Kurawaimö tepui. From above, a breathtaking landscape unfolds: vast open savannas, the Kuraupa Valley, and the tepui chain stretching into the horizon; at eye level with the Kurún and Kusary tepuis. We’ll encounter curiously shaped plateaus, sculpted by centuries of erosion, witnesses of time and the ancient river phenomena that shaped this territory.
We return along the same trail, sail back to Puerto Ucaima, and end the day at Wakü Lodge.
