1978

Canaima Tours & our beginnings

This dream began with Grandpa Raúl, who started out supporting other operators as a guide, until he was able to acquire his own tour company, Canaima Tours, turning it into the most important logistics system in the area.

2000

WAKÜ and its CONSTRUCTION

Wakü Lodge was born, Mary’s home; built little by little through the hard work of her and her family. They dreamed of it as a place to welcome people from all over the world who longed to experience Canaima.

2010

Expansion and partnerships

With the unconditional support of the entire family, sustainability initiatives were added, alliances with the Pemón community were formed, and the lodge infrastructure was improved.

2020

Animal SANCTUARY

Wakü Lodge became the first safe haven for local wildlife; dedicated to the protection and rehabilitation of rescued animals, ensuring their well-being in their natural habitat.

“I arrived in Canaima alongside my father, who found his place in the world here. Since then, this generous jungle has taught me to listen, to understand, and to care for it.

Wakü was born from that intimate bond with nature and the spirit of this place. It is my way of honoring what was given to me: a purpose, a home, a community. It is also the result of the ongoing work of a team that believes in conscious and respectful tourism.
